We are currently looking for an experienced Engineer to work as a member of the Burton, Bristol or Dorking based multi-disciplinary project teams delivering technical services to clients or as an integral part of the client's own project teams. You will be undertaking a range of technical and project orientated tasks associated with the scoping, design and development of complex rail infrastructure and rolling stock systems. In particular, you will be an integral part of the company's plans to grow their Systems Engineering services in their highly successful Rail Engineering Consultancy Business.
With a focus across the system lifecycle, the Rail Systems Engineer will be involved in; Requirements development and management; Concept generation, evaluation and selection; System design and design assessments; System verification planning and assessment; Reliability Availability Maintainability Safety (RAMS) assessment; Through Life Cost modelling and assessment; Risk assessment (both technical and project).
You will also be expected to work closely with the Rail sector Business Managers and with the Systems Engineering Technical Managers to identify and exploit opportunities, develop propositions and advise on the development of future service offering in this key business area. You will also provide mentorship to engineering teams on the application of Systems Engineering techniques in the Rail sector.
To succeed as Rail Systems Engineer you should be qualified to degree/ Masters level in an Engineering related subject (upper second class or above) and be a Chartered Engineer (or actively pursuing Chartered Engineer status via a Monitored Professional Development Scheme with an accredited professional engineering institution).
You will be an Engineer with excellent experience in the Rail industry, with demonstrable experience of project lifecycle management from a Systems Engineering perspective and of successful stakeholder management. Consequently you will have knowledge and experience of the conduct of Systems Engineering methods, processes and techniques as applied to complex rail projects.
You must be able to apply ‘Systems Thinking' to problems at technical, project and enterprise levels and must be able to demonstrate the use of Requirements Management and System Modelling/Architecting tools (DOORS and System Architect preferably). The ability to communicate clearly and directly with people both verbally and in writing is also essential.
This role requires SC Clearance so you must be either a British Citizen who has been living in the UK for the last 3 years minimum or of another nationality who has been living in the UK continuously for the last 5 years minimum.
