We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer/ Consultant with an interest in Sustainability in the Food and Drink Sector to work as a Senior Consultant in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire and to apply your manufacturing systems knowledge to a variety of food and drink manufacturing companies seeking to adopt sustainability within their operations and supply chains.

The primary role will be to provide advice on waste minimisation and resource efficiency to numerous clients. To achieve this, training will be provided through working alongside existing Principal Consultants. The post offers the opportunity to work on assignments at a number of clients' manufacturing sites with the objective of identifying and reporting on potential improvements.

The role of Senior Consultant involves evaluating and processing large amounts of information and presenting a clear reasoned argument on a particular topic to the client. The role will require senior-level interaction with clients, government and industry and demands the post-holder works to tight pre-defined deadlines. Consultants are also encouraged to tender and win new work and also look for new business opportunities, and this role reflects this environment.

The work covers a wide variety of topics and so you should thrive in an environment where you will need to quickly assimilate and understand issues on a wide variety of sustainability issues. Their research is regularly used to define government policy and business strategy, and so you must be able to provide a defence of your research findings.

To succeed as Senior Consultant, you will be qualified to MSc/ PhD level in an appropriate discipline and will have a good level of work experience indicating an ability to initiate project work, to carry out research to a high standard, to explore new areas of interest, and to apply intelligence to solving problems. Experience of leading small teams of technically qualified staff is essential and you must be able to take the responsibility under pressure to complete projects to deadline.

You must be highly numerate and experienced in analysis and interpretation of data, able to prepare reports in English for senior management and must be able to demonstrate your interest in the integration of the concept of sustainability within business. Awareness of issues particular to the food and drink sector would be an advantage but is not essential.

You will be joining a research and consulting company which provides consulting services to business and Government to support change toward more sustainable and less carbon-intensive products, processes, services and supply chains. The company is based in the town centre of Aylesbury and employs post-graduate staff who work in a collaborative environment.
