We are now seeking a Field Applications Engineer to join the Applications Engineering team of this leader in power semiconductor and power management / integrated circuit manufacture based in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

As the Field Applications Engineer you will play a key role in new business development within the Marketing team, providing front line support to their global customer base. Your responsibilities will be to provide detailed application based support both to sales and direct to customers, as well as to provide design support to their internal power electronic assemblies team. You will provide input to product development roadmap and R&D activities and manage customer projects.

To succeed as the Field Applications Engineer you should have a HNC / technical degree and will have attained a high level of understanding of high power semiconductor device behaviour. You will have device knowledge preferably including Thyristor, diode and IGBT technologies as well as a basic knowledge of rectifier / converter topologies, ac /dc drives and resonant converters. Significant experience gained within the power semiconductor, industrial drives or transportation sectors is also essential. You must also be prepared and able to travel overseas up 20% of the time.

In addition, you will have a practical approach to problem solving plus good written and oral communication skills (any second languages would be desirable). You should be self-motivated and –reliant and be able to work closely within a multi-disciplined team.
